Setting the Record Straight
You may have seen a Building and Plumbing Commission article about a fine involving our licence holder, Jordan Maiolo.
We want our clients, builders and staff to have the full picture.
Every allegation we were fined for in the decision was administrative, inspection bookings, certificate lodgement timing and paperwork across 8 projects dating back to 2020. Not one finding concerned the quality or safety of any plumbing work.
Where follow up drain inspections were completed they all passed.
The BPC's own records, produced at the Inquiry, show 9,962 compliance certificates lodged since 2018 and 41 administrative infringements.
A rate of 0.41%, every one paid.
A third of the 34 allegations were withdrawn or dismissed at the hearing. There was no finding of dishonesty, concealment or unsafe work, the findings that carry serious penalties and licence suspensions.
No licence was suspended. The fine was for administrative breaches and has been paid in full.
We self-reported two of these matters to the regulator before any complaint was made, and cooperated fully throughout.
Well before the hearing, we rebuilt our booking and certification systems - documented procedures, mandatory inspection booking references, automatic notification of inspection times to site crews, and registration verification before any worker is scheduled.
The results are measurable: 6 infringements in 2024, 1 in 2025, and zero so far in 2026 - one infringement across our last 1,759 certificates.
At the hearing, the presiding Delegate indicated that publicising these matters would not be appropriate in the circumstances, and offered to support our request that they not be published on social media. Our lawyers formally passed that request and the Delegate's view to the Commission on 15 June. The Commission published anyway.
We're disappointed in that choice. A regulator lifts standards fastest by working with businesses that self-report, cooperate and fix root causes, as our record since the rebuild shows. Publicity that describes administrative errors in a way that reads as bad plumbing doesn't protect consumers. It puts our business and the livelihood of our employees at risk.
We own our mistakes. We fixed the systems that caused them. And we stand behind every installation we've ever delivered.
Scott Bradley, Managing Director.
